A free Cervical Cancer Screening thru Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid testing to all UCMed female employees including its female relatives was conducted at the UCMed OB-GYNE Outpatient Department, last May 23, 2023.
OB-GYNE Specialists offered free screening to over 80 UCMed female employees and its female relatives for early prevention and detection of cervical concerns.
In the culmination of the month-long celebration, the UCMed OB-GYN Department participated in the Lantern Walk with the theme “Ending Cervical Cancer Within A Few Generations” on May 28, 2023.
The momentous event was joined by the consultants, residents, postgraduate interns, and senior clerks from all training institutions and cervical cancer survivors, who walked fondly in unity at the Lower Ground Level, Cube Wing of SM Seaside City Cebu.
Accordingly, among the attendees of UCMed OB-GYN residents who took part in the Lantern Walk was: Dr. Adele Muntuerto-Capito, Dr. Ronald Capito, Dr. Grace Rosario Abugan, Dr. Florybeth Taguba, Dr. Flordelesa Fuertes, and Dr. Ruby Facturan.

The symbolic Lantern Walk was launched with the aim of spreading awareness about cervical cancer being a hundred percent (100%) preventable and willfully encouraging women to act upon and educate themselves about the disease.
The culminating activity commenced with a short parade, followed by lectures on cervical cancer, and concluded with a mass Zumba dance.
