UCMed offers 50% discount on mammogram services
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The University of Cebu Medical Center (UCMed) is offering a 50 percent discount on mammogram services this month to celebrate and support the cause of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
UCMed also offers 30 percent discount on its breast ultrasound services, its way to encourage women to undergo early screening and prevention, recognizing that breast cancer remains one of the leading health concerns among Filipino women.

According to Dr. Elizabeth Cong, the hospital’s head of the Breast Imaging Section, the American College of Radiology and Society of Breast Imaging recommends mammogram screening for women when they reach 40.
“If you are in this highest-risk category, take time to talk your doctor about starting breast cancer screening, even as early as age 25 or 30,” she said.
“More women under the age of 40 are diagnosed with breast cancer than ever before, and it is often more deadly in younger women,” she explained.
Dr. Cong said the most common symptom of breast cancer is a lump or mass, but added a symptom may be indicated by the swelling of all, or a part of, a breast even if no lump is felt.
Other symptoms include breast or nipple pain, skin sores and nipple retraction, she added.
UCMed’s advanced imaging technology ensures that mammogram screenings are smarter, faster, comfortable, and targets accurately, shares Dr. Cong.
“First-time patients, or those who are not familiar with the mammography process, may feel anxious due to uncertainty about what to expect,” she noted.
“While there may be minimal discomfort or pressure, it is a normal part of the procedure to get a clear image that only lasts for seconds,” she added, reassuring women not to be afraid of getting checked.
UCMed continues to invest in world-class equipment, such as the Siemens SOMATOM X.ceed digital imaging system and the Philips Azurion 7 C20 with Smart CT, to strengthen its diagnostic and treatment capabilities.
The hospital’s mammogram only emits a very low radiation dose within regulatory limits.
A breast surgeon, Dr. Hannah Kangleon-Tan gave a simple reminder to all women as the world marks Pink October.
“Ladies, this is your reminder: your health matters. We’re making it easier for you to get checked with UCMed’s mammogram promo,” she said.
“It only takes a few minutes, but it can give you peace of mind. Catching problems early could save your life. Bring a friend, bring your sister. Let’s make health a priority together,” she added.
This campaign is a reminder that in UCMed, Your Health, Is Our Priority.
