
UCMed celebrates Nutrition Month 2025: Promoting Food and Nutrition Security.
UCMed, through its Dietary Department, celebrates Nutrition Month 2025 with the theme: “Food and Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!”

The celebration kicked off on July 1 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Dr. Armando V. Tan, Medical Director, along with Ms. June Ivy D. Ang (Hospital Administrator), Dr. Maricel B. Malazarte (Chair, Hospital Nutrition Steering Committee), and Dr. April Abcede (DNC Unit Head). Dr. Tan emphasized the importance of making informed nutritional choices for overall health in his opening remarks.
That same day, UCMed’s Dietary Team joined the 51st Regional Nutrition Month Launching in Brgy. Cogon Ramos, and on July 5, they also participated in the Nutri 5K Fun Run at Plaza Independencia, organized by DOH CVCHD and the Cebu City Government.
To further raise awareness, a Nutrition Symposium was held with keynote speakers, Mr. Neil Clyde Kho (Private Sector Representative- ARKA), Rino Dominic Cabungcal (DOST- PSTO Cebu), Mhea Sigourney O. Lofranco, RND (NNC), and Dr. Wilberto Castillo (DOA- Technical Director), Dr. Maricel B. Malazarte (Chair, Hospital Nutrition Steering Committee) and Booth Exhibits and commitment board signed by the participants, followed by a Farmer’s Market on July 15, offering fresh and organic produce to promote healthy eating and support local farmers.
