UCMed NIPC Week Celebration 2025
The University of Cebu Medical Center (UCMed) successfully marked the National Infection Prevention and Control (NIPC) Week from July 7 to 11, 2025, anchored to the theme, IPC Champions: Leading the Way to Safer Healthcare, with a series of activities aimed at raising awareness and recognizing outstanding contributions in infection prevention.
The week-long observance opened on July 7 with welcome remarks from Dr. Francis Daclan, Patient Safety Unit Officer, who emphasized the importance of infection prevention in providing safe, quality care.

Together with Ms. Catherine Ibarra (Director for Patient Services), Mr. Ronniel Dayaday (Director for Allied Health Services), and NSD Supervisors Ms. Rachel Costas and Ms. Manuelita Ebarola, Dr. Daclan also led the awarding of UCMed’s IPC Champions — individuals recognized for their outstanding commitment to infection control.

The week featured various engaging activities, including fun trivia games on the second and fourth days to reinforce knowledge and boost staff participation. A forum titled “Leadership at the Frontline: Unit Heads’ Critical Role in Infection Prevention” was also held on July 9 to highlight the importance of leadership in sustaining infection control practices.

The celebration culminated on July 11 with a closing ceremony that featured games, prizes, and the awarding of the Photojournalism Contest winner, highlighting the creativity and dedication of UCMed’s healthcare team in promoting a culture of safety.
UCMed remains steadfast in its commitment to uphold the highest standards of infection prevention, ensuring the well-being of patients, staff, and the wider community, embodying this year’s theme.
