UCMed Joins Food Safety Awareness Week 2024
The UCMed Nutrition & Dietary Services Department marked its first-ever participation in National Food Safety Awareness Week on October 30 & 31, 2024.

Under the leadership of Mr. Joshua David Bendoy, RND, UCMed’s Chief Nutritionist-Dietitian, the activities were comprised of a hospital-wide awareness campaign featuring infographic posters displayed hospital-wide, internal training sessions on food handling for staff, and workshops for food vendors and food handlers on the premises.
In collaboration with the Infection Prevention and Control Team, Mr. Lloyd Richard Silvosa, RN, infection control nurse, conducted a lecture reorientation on ‘Standard Infection Control Practices’ focusing on essential procedures to minimize infection risks within the healthcare setting.
Ms. Gen, Asst. Chief Dietitian (OIC), discussed the importance of proper personal hygiene and effective sanitation practices. She emphasized how these daily habits play a critical role in preventing the spread of infections and providing a safer healthcare environment for patients and staff alike.

Through these interactive initiatives, UCMed accentuates its commitment to ensuring a safer and healthier environment for patients, staff, and the broader community.
