Array of Diagnostic Equipment
Eye ailments, including glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic eye diseases, macular degeneration, retinal tears, optic nerve damage, and corneal disorders, are among the many eye conditions the center can assess.

Eye specialists and technicians use advanced machines to evaluate and manage these vision conditions, even in specialized eye cases. These include:
- ZEISS Humphrey Field Analyzer 3 – Performs Automated Visual Field Testing to evaluate peripheral vision loss associated with glaucoma, optic nerve damage, retinal disease, and stroke-related vision defects.
- ZEISS CIRRUS Photo 800 – Uses Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Color Fundus / Disc Photography, and Fluorescein Angiography to provide a clear image inside the eye to scan layers of the retina and optic nerve, allowing the detection of potential problems, such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, macular edema, and retinal vascular diseases.
- ZEISS IOLMaster 700 – Conducts Optical Biometry to precisely measure the eye for cataract surgery planning and refractive error assessment.
- ZEISS YAG III – Performs YAG Capsulotomy, through a laser treatment to clear the cloudy capsules behind the artificial lens after a cataract surgery, and Laser Iridotomy to create a small opening to improve fluid drainage, treating posterior capsular and angle closure glaucoma.
- MEDILIGHT IRIDEX IQ 532 – Delivers multiple retinal laser treatments like Panretinal Photocoagulation, Focal Retinal Laser, Laser Indirect Ophthalmoscopy, Laser Peripheral Iridoplasty, and Laser Suture Lysis to stop retinal leakage, seal tears, widen drainage angles, and adjust sutures, targeting diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, peripheral degeneration, and angle-closure glaucoma, including post-glaucoma surgery care.
- MEDILIGHT Cyclo G6 IRIDEX – Performs Trans-scleral Cyclophotocoagulation to help lower eye pressure in severe glaucoma, refractory, and advanced glaucoma.
- ZEISS ATLAS – Uses Corneal Topography to map corneal shape, essential for refractive planning and disease screening for detecting keratoconus, irregular astigmatism, and pre-laser surgery evaluation.
- MEDILIGHT SONOMED VUPAD – Performs Pachymetry, A-scan, and B-scan ultrasound to assess corneal thickness, cataract measurements, retinal detachment, vitreous hemorrhage, and intraocular tumors.
- ZEISS MEL 90 – Performs Laser Vision correction (Trans-PRK), a laser eye surgery, to comprehensively address common refractive errors such as Myopia (nearsightedness), Hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. A quick and painless (no cutting) laser procedure, it gently reshapes the cornea’s surface to permanently correct blurry vision.
TransPRK procedure case
Eva Marie Espinosa, diagnosed with myopia and astigmatism, underwent TransPRK at UCMed Eye Center in August 2024.
“The procedure and recovery were smooth, and the care I received was outstanding,” she shared.
Eva recalled an instance from her grade school years, how much she struggled to follow along in class discussions, as the letters on the board swam before her eyes.
Subsequently, her family and teachers observed a sudden decline in grades. They later discovered that Eva was nearsighted.
Wearing her prescribed eyeglasses became a daily necessity, and her newfound clarity helped her achieve top marks in class and function well throughout the day. Yet, wearing her glasses was not without challenges.

At 27, she recently decided to leap into her life through the TransPRK procedure before her vision gets worse over time.
“Regaining clear 20/20 vision, something I had not experienced since childhood, has truly been a priceless investment,” she exclaimed.
Ultimately, protecting one’s eye health through early screening and receiving expert care is essential to prevent or mitigate complications in the long run.
Cataract surgery case
Cataract Surgery is a special procedure conducted to safely remove the cloudy lens of the eye and replace it with a clearer artificial lens to restore one’s vision. This treatment is powered by an advanced technology providing greater precision, enhanced safety, and more comfort during surgery.
In his fifties, Mr. Andy Pino began noticing subtle yet troubling changes in his life. He was experiencing blurry vision in his right eye and observed a difference in his left-right reading vision as well as left-right distant vision.
Tasks that once felt simple and routine at work became challenging. To the point that even long hours of computer use triggered severe headaches.
Night driving became a nightmare with its blinding glare from opposing vehicles striking before his eyes. “The shadow of danger and accident has always lurked around the corner every time I drove in the evening against the opposing headlights of cars coming my way,” he remarked.
Eventually, Mr. Pino took a big step forward. He was fully convinced by the recommendations of his lovely daughter, assured by the competence and dependable experience, and underwent Cataract Surgery at UCMed.
Mr. Pino stated, “It was a very unforgettable experience. It was my first time undergoing a major operation. The warm-hearted nurses and staff have eased the palpitations.”

The entire experience provided him with reassuring comfort, especially with Dr. Bryan’s cool and confident commanding presence and with the expertise of the medical professionals who assisted him.
Mr. Pino confirmed that the procedure ran so smoothly, felt at ease, and there was no pain at all, which totally gave him relief after the successful operation.
“At present, I can now extend my focus and concentration at work on my computer. I have now gained back my confidence driving and maneuvering with ease at night, even against the most harsh and unforgiving cars flashing their fog lights heading towards me coming from the opposite direction.”
What seemed minimal at first can anytime become a turning point in life, which can either disrupt or enhance the quality of life. What’s certain is that taking immediate care of one’s eye can make a real difference.
